the ring: analog nightmare come to life

#COSTUMING #WIGSTYLING #CREATIVEPRODUCTION

costume created by me. wig styled by me starting with a white sundress, i distressed and dyed the hems using sandpaper, graters, concrete and mud. then, i dyed the fabric with spatter techniques, repeating this several times. the wig was manipulated with the aid of pomades and pastes to create a stringy matte, matted look that hangs over the face. photobooth concept co-produced by me. navid and i based the photobooth off the videotape clip of samara’s psychiatric stay. our goal was to create an eerie, sterile environment with an old television connected to the camera source to evoke a chilling sense of surveillance. i worked with aurora to pose in a way that felt glitchy and cursed, which alongside the green color grading created a moment worthy of one of the best horror films of all time.
